My iPhones

I started with a 3Gs at firmware 3.0 then moved to a 4G with the lowest firmware and now at firmware 5.01. I just bought the 4Gs with the 5.01. Waiting for the Jailbreak now for the 4s.

iCloud

To Reset your Photo Stream, follow these instructions:

  1. From a computer browser, go to icloud.com and sign in.
  2. Click on your name on the iCloud home page (this is the page that shows all the app icons). If you do not see your name, click the cloud icon in the top left of the page.
  3. Click Advanced.
  4. Here you will see the Reset Photo Stream button. Clicking this button will remove all your Photo Stream photos from iCloud. Once removed, they cannot be recovered, but you can re-upload any photos you'd like to restore to your Photo Stream from a Mac or PC.

After resetting your Photo Stream, you can also remove any photos that have been downloaded to your device or computers. To do this, follow the directions below:

  • On your iOS device, you can remove photos from the Photo Stream view by turning off Photo Stream and then optionally turning it back on. You can do this at Settings > iCloud > Photo Stream.

  • On your Mac, you can clear cached photos from the Photo Stream view in iPhoto or Aperture by turning off Photo Stream and then optionally turning it back on. You can do this in each application by visiting Preferences > Photo Stream.

If you had Automatic Import enabled in your Photo Stream settings, your Photo Stream photos were also imported to your iPhoto or Aperture Library, and will remain after you disable Photo Stream. If you would like to delete any of these photos from your library, you can to do so manually any time you like.

  • On your PC, you can remove Photo Stream photos by deleting them from your designated Photo Stream Download Folder. By default, this folder is located at C:\Users\Apple\Pictures\Photo Stream\My Photo Stream.

How To Create System Shortcuts On Your iDevice On iOS 5 – No Jailbreak Or App Required

Developer Jeff Broderick, has designed a panel available directly from Safari, so that you can create system shortcuts and save them directly on your idevice.

I miss my Sbsettings but this might just do for now.

Visit http://brdrck.me/settings on your idevice.

Select the shortcut you want to install on your springboard.

And install.. Its that simple!

It’s not like Sbsettings but it helps. The site is currently running a bit slow due to high traffic, be patient. Enjoy!

RedSn0w Now Supports for iOS 5.0.1 – Download Links

I found this on the web the other day.

Redsn0w version 0.9.9b8 will natively recognize the 5.0.1 beta that Apple let developers start testing this week (so you don’t have to play the “point at 5.0 IPSW” trick). Because the IPSW isn’t public, you’ll still need to provide it once to redsn0w (at which point it will cache all the important pieces so you don’t need to select it again).
For those 3GS and i4 users who preserve their baseband, the Mac version can also produce the NO_BB_* custom IPSWs for 5.0.1. (But please note that ultrasn0w doesn’t get updated for betas like this.)
This is still a tethered jailbreak for all except old-bootrom 3GS users.
You can download RedSn0w from – WinMac

Apple Already Testing Siri On Older iDevices!? Who Needs A Siri Port Now?

Rumors are circulating in the iBlog world that Apple is currently testing Siri on older models. The model that Apple is currently testing Siri on is the iPhone 4 says the Apple leaker. But that doesnt mean that the iPhone 3GS won’t get any love.. (well.. it might actually not get any love, sorry).

Currently, Devs have found an “Illegal” way to port siri to older devices. The “Illegal” way, is probably why we might not see it hit Cydia anytime soon.

Then you have some scumbag devs trying to make a quick dollar and asking for donation to help with servers fees for the Siri port. Let’s get real! You really thing a simple server can handle the demand if this port goes public? Keep your cash folks, you might not need a port if Apple does plan to release Siri to older devices.

More as it develops…

Bricked?

What is bricked meaning? I am not sure but if it means when your phone is permanently off and will not turn on when wanting it to then I guess that is bricked.

This happened to me a few months ago and I had to drive 50 miles to the nearest apple store to have fixed because the AT&T stores will not repair the phones. Was told they ship them to the apple stores.

With that in mind I Rather be with my phone in the same day instead of it being lost in the mail or a week while it gets unbricked when it can be done the same day.

When I was at the apple store the man helping me also had his 4G jailbroken too. He told me that to unbrick the iPhone was the cord needed to be plugged into the wall power for 110v A/C

Then needed to hold the power and home button for about 30 seconds then the iPhone will turn on.

Wa La. it worked again for me today when Redsn0w failed to boot it back up.

Unbricked again and still Jailbreaking the 5.0

SemiTether

Well I tried the semi tether and it does work for me with 1 drawback, I can not reboot back into jailbreak mode.

I tried to just boot with redsn0w, rejailbreak, tried different versions of redsnow, thinking of trying ultrasn0w.

Once again its restore time. Add it if you want but for me I'm not doing it again.

To install this, add the following repository to cydia: http://thebigboss.org/semitether. Note: after install, you will have to reboot your device, so make sure you are prepared at a computer to reboot tethered with redsn0w or just “home button out” of cydia and manually respring until you get home.

Read here for more on this to add if you like to. The BigBoss

Jailbreak 5.0

My iPhone 4g was at firmware 4.2.1 then when it was corruped it got changed to 4.3.5 because iTunes would not accept 4.3.3 to install. I did try Tiny Umbrella with out any good results.

I really like the 4.2.1 because the battery lasted all day and night. When the firmware went to 4.3.5 I was charging the phone 3 times a day.

Needless to say I was not happy about it. The other thing was that the 4.3.5 is not an untethered jailbreak. 4.3.3 was the last one that was untethered.

I had my iPhone working sweet on 4.3.5 until I saw a advertisement about an app. I don't remember what app it was now but it let my phone into a infinite loop of shutting down and restarting, never to let it boot up.

I did try to use the iphone browser to see if I could remove it since it was not completely shutting down and just restringing all the time. I could not find the file I was looking for. Well the OS5 has been out for about 2 weeks.

I figured that I could reinstall 4.3.5 or infect 4.3.3 so I tried to restore the firmware using iTunes. It would not complete it. Now I have no firmware. I used tiny umbrella to use with iTunes. Again it failed. I used every PC there was at work and all it did was fail. I kept receiving a code that said that firmware could not be installed. So I tried OS5.

After many hours I thought well OS5 could not be that bad.
I tried to install. Would you know it failed too. This time it said OS5 does not qualify for it. Its a iPhone 4. why would it not qualify. I ended up trying all the PC again with all complete failure.

Giving up and just wanting to wait till I go home I ended up at my girlfriends neighbor. My girlfriend told him what happened and he recommended to use a MAC.

I was going to go to the apple store and just have them install it so why not, it installed the firmware OS5 with no problems. When I have the money to by one I will since it works. Lesson learned windows sucks, I am a windows user too. Trying to install MAC firmware on a iPhone guess there is a problem there.

If your having problems installing the firmware on your iPhone try a MAC.

For jailbreaking OS5 use Redsn0w 0.9.9b4
there is currently no untethered jailbreak but there is a semi-tethered tweak you can add in cydia after you jailbreak
the semi-tethered will let the phone boot up if it turns off completely. When it boots back up only the phone part will work. to get everything to work again you will need to use redsn0w to get it to work again.

The next blog will talk about how to jailbreak and cydia and semi-tether.
